Scenario
In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to shoot an adult film on a rural farm in Texas, but when their reclusive elderly owners caught them red-handed, the crew found themselves fighting for their lives. The day after the premiere of the film “X” (2022), screenwriter and director Ti West said that during the mandatory two-week quarantine due to COVID-19 in his New Zealand hotel, before the start of filming of this film, he wrote the prequel “The Pearl” (2022 ). A24 saw the script and gave the green light to the film even before the shooting of “X” was completed. He asked star Mia Goth if she wanted to stay in New Zealand and film The Pearl, and she readily agreed.

When Lorraine goes into the basement and turns on the light, there is a modern halogen bulb that was not available in 1979. Maxine: I won’t accept a life I don’t deserve. There are no opening credits. The title does not even appear on the screen until the very end.
The characters are mostly unpleasant

Decent horror elements, although it’s a bit weird and contrived and requires some suspension of disbelief to follow. These are typical people chasing fame, who abuse alcohol and drugs and live a “free spirit” with a more holy behavior.
In general, just relax and enjoy
They lie to themselves to get by, blurring the lines between what they call “work” and real life, but mostly they make a virtue out of necessity. The film is basically a relaxed experience. There is nothing to monitor or analyze. I like the retro style of cinematography.
