Adaptation of James Patterson’s novel series about the complicated and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to play Cross. He follows in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him in 1997’s “Kiss the Girls” and the 2001 sequel “Along Came a Spider,” as well as Tyler Perry in the title role in 2012’s “Alex Cross,” which was a box office hit and caused Lionsgate to scrap the planned sequel “Double Cross.” The Amazon series starts off with some problems. If you’ve read all of the books in the Alex Cross series, you’ll have your own opinion of the amazing characters that come to life right away.

Alex is a good choice!

As with many film adaptations of Cross novels, the characters are just not portrayed properly. But John Sampson should be a much older man. Like a tall, broad football player. This Alex is my favorite Det Cross for me.

She doesn’t pack carrots and celery

The kids are fine at their younger ages. But Mama Nana is too young and I see her as a thinner woman with a BIG personality who always cooks good, hearty food! Their meals in the warm old kitchen were so well prepared I could taste their cobbler and cookies! Maria only has a small role and it wasn’t what I imagined.

I hope she meets Bree Stone

The music is great and I see the friendship between him and Sampson, but it’s not as strong as in the books. I still like it and it fits the serial killer, one of many that Det Cross has to bring to justice. It’s just that the plot is a little confusing and the killer is discovered pretty quickly. I hope the show gets a second, third and fourth season so the actors can grow into the plots of the books.
